La Banda Ramirez

Latin jazz quintet that plays a wide range of styles, from Cuban classics & New York salsa to modern Latin jazz, post-bop and back to swing jazz. Co-led by multi-percussionist Chacho Ramirez and flutist Carolyn Steinberg Ramirez, the band includes Jack Glottman on piano, whose Colombian/Israeli background includes the world stage, and bassist Ratzo Harris, whose many recordings include some with Cal Tjader. Randy Sosa plays additional percussion rounding out this group of five excellent & talented musicians. Chacho toured twice playing congas with Ahmad Jamal, and has worked with Hal Calper, Alex Blake, Neil Clarke, and many other great musicians. La Banda Ramirez brings Cuban, Salsa and Latin jazz standards from Mongo Santamaria, & Palmi to the New York City area and beyond.
